‘Migrant menace’: Salvini accused of targeting refugees and ignoring mafia- The Guardian

Ciao a tutti!

This morning I came across this article, which speaks about the way in which Salvini, leader of the Lega Nord, is shifting his policies and speeches more against immigration than the problem with organized crime in Italy. For me, it is interesting to see how the Italian and UK press write about the mafia differently. In my opinion, is it easy to sensationalize such topics in the UK, when it is in fact a reality for many Italian communities. Here in Great Britain, we do not have an equivalent to the mafia on the same scale, and so maybe this is a reason.

What do you think about the author’s description of the topics of immigration and mafia in the article? Do you think his reference to Italians migrating to the US or Nigerian Mafia is relevant? Does the author miss any points or know the subject well enough?

Let me know what you think!
